Tri Village Rotary Committees/Descriptions/Members, 2014-2015

Sgt of Arms/Fellowship Committee

This Committee records attendance and make-ups for all members, as well as assigning a member to prepare and lead fellowship at each meeting. Members of the committee help set up the meeting room, including any audio/video needs for the speaker, and help put the room in order at the conclusion of the meeting. Working with the Literacy Committee, the Sgt. of Arms ensures there is a book each week for the speaker to sign. Monies collected for breakfast are recorded and guests are announced at the appropriate time during the meeting. Name badges for members and guests are distributed.

This Committee schedules members for the weekly invocation.

Newsletter Committee

This committee is responsible for preparing the weekly newsletter, including a summary of the business of the meeting, the speaker's presentation, and announcements of upcoming events of the club. A committee member is assigned to take notes and pictures, and provide a report for posting to the website manager within a week of the meeting.

Program Committee

The members of this committee invite, schedule, and thank speakers for weekly meetings. They notify the website manager who posts upcoming speakers on the website. They welcome suggestions from all club members for speakers.

Social Committee

This committee coordinates social events designed to provide networking opportunities for members and potential members. Outings may include spouses, partners, and children.

Public Relations

This committee is charged with creating opportunities to market the club and to promote activities undertaken by the club.

Membership Committee

This committee is charged with maintaining and growing the membership of the club. Among the duties are review and nomination of new members, orientation and mentoring of new members, and updates of directory information regarding each member.

Finance Committee

This committee is responsible for overseeing club finances and ensuring the club is solvent. Members include the Treasurer, Vice President, and at least one member at large. Establishing a budget for the year is the primary goal.

Fundraising/Development Committee

This committee is responsible for planning events, seeking grants and other financial resources for the club. This vital group helps determine how much money is available for the club to distribute to various charities. Members work the fundraising table at weekly meetings for the 50/50 and Ace of Spades drawing.

Community Service Committee (Includes Literacy)

This committee supports the many organizations and projects of the club, some annual, some special requests and signature projects.

Literacy Committee

This committee is responsible for providing club members with opportunities to work with students at Stevenson Elementary and support any literacy needs they have, as well as the community at large. Volunteer club members meet weekly during the school year with an assigned student. The weekly club speaker signs a book provided by the committee which is donated to the Stevenson Elementary School Library.?

International Service Committee

This committee is to spend time studying and asking questions about scholarship opportunities from Rotary. The major scholarships include the Ambassadorial and Cultural Exchange programs. Committee members also serve as liaisons for any exchange students the club supports.

Rotary Foundation Committee

The primary responsibility of this committee is to encourage club members to participate in the Foundation with emphasis on the Polio Plus initiative. It will also keep the club board aware of rotary grant opportunities and steps to apply.

Vocational Service Committee/Sunshine Committee

This committee guides and assists club members in promoting high standards of conduct in their business, professional, public service, and volunteer activities. A specific focus of the committee is recognition of community public servants and facilitation of opportunities for youth to witness and practice skills needed in real life work environments.

This committee is responsible for recognition of members' birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events in their lives.?
